During the recent SUMS Cup, the Sophomores have proven once again that they are a powerhouse of multi-talented individuals after vying for the 1st spot in the Basketball Tournament in both Men’s and Women’s Division.

In the heated championship round under the female category, the Sophomores had to be beaten twice by the Freshmen in order to claim 1st place. When the final minute came, the audience clamored for their bets as the scoreboard showed a tight game wherein the Sophies only had a 1-point lead. But as the pressure continued to rise, the Freshmen ladies put their best foot forward and scored 4 more points that ultimately led them to become the champion in the Basketball Women’s Division.
On the other hand, the male players of the Sophomores clearly had it in the bag from the very beginning during their championship game alongside the Juniors. Point after point, the Sophomores were unstoppable. And as expected, the Sophomores emerged as champions in the Basketball Men’s Division.

All the basketball games were held at the Silliman Medical Center (SMC) open court beginning 8am until 7pm, alternating between the men’s and women’s division. The final ranking for the Basketball Men’s Division was: Freshmen as the 4th placers, followed by the Seniors, then the Juniors, and finally Sophomores as the champion.

Meanwhile the Women’s division followed a ranking of Freshmen as the 1st placers followed by the Sophomores at 2nd, Juniors at 3rd and Seniors at 4th place.
