SU MED holds first quiz bowl

Silliman University Medical School conducted its first elimination round of quiz bowl 2015 last July 24 at the Physician’s Hall, SUMS building.
Graced by SUMS dean, Dr. Amante and Dr. Ursos, the quiz bowl was participated by 10 groups of students.
Each group consisted of a one student per year level. Participants competed in three rounds--- easy, average, and difficult level. Each round had ten questions with corresponding points.
Dr Gamaliel Garcia, a fellow of the Organization of Philippine Medical Colleges, stood as the quiz master.
The questions were from different fields like surgery, pathology, internal medicine, anatomy and physiology.
Team Duphaston won first place garnering the highest score of 43 points, followed by Team SA Node in second place with 41 points. Team Neuron bagged third place with 38 points.
The event was organized by the academic committee headed by Mr. Giesryl Tee.

5 teams qualify for third round of SUMS Quiz Bowl

On August 25, 2015 at SUMS Physician’s Hall, the second elimination round of quiz bowl 2015 was conducted to eight remaining groups. The same mechanics were applied, and three teams were eliminated.

Team Inotropes, composed of Bernaldez, Homocillo, Garsuta, and Gabrinez, won the top spot with 42 points. Team Dementia, composed of Garillos, Tenorio, Recamadas, and Luba, placed second with 38 points. Meanwhile, Team Hypothalamus, composed of Bautista, Valiente, Lacadin, and Abrasaldo, garnered the third spot with 35 points. Also qualifying for the next round are Teams Duphaston and Neuron, which both bagged 33 points. Team Duphaston is composed of Bautista, Jakosalem, Calibo, and Isna-in, while Team Neuron, composed of Gomez, Alcala, Tan, and Bandoy.

Dr. Gamaliel Garcia stood as the quizmaster and judge. The winner will represent the school to this year's AMPC quizbowl to be held at San Beda College.
