On July 4, 2015, Silliman University Medical School (SUMS) celebrated their acquaintance party at Silliman University Gymnasium with the theme ‘Happy Hippie.

Hosted by Ella Undag and Reimel Patula, the event was graced by 245 students and the faculty. The opening remarks were given by the dean of SUMS, Dr. Jonathan C. Amante.

The oath taking of the SUMSA officers, year level presidents and Dra. Ma. Lourdes E. Ursos as the acting adviser, took place in the middle of the program. The year level presentation followed, starting with the second year, first year, third year, and fourth year.

The highlight of the party was the launching of the quiz bowl. It was held in between the presentations to liven up the crowd. With Dr. Walden R. Ursos as the quiz master for the easy, average and difficult level, 10 teams were formed with each group consisting of one representative per year level. Bautista, Jakosalem, Calibo, and Isna-in of Team Duphaston bagged first place with a total score of 24, while Namocatcat, Bandico, Escabarte, Correos of Team Hepatitis A, and Bernaldez, Homocillo, Garsuta, Gabrinez of Team Inotrope garnered second and third place with a score of 22 and 20, respectively.

Mr. Rhys Tagimacruz, Mr. Jonathan Amante IV, and Mr. Kyle Solano, candidates for Mr. Hibalag 2015, and Ms. Katrina Logarta, Ms. Medicine 2015 was also introduced during the party. Ms. Logarta, a third year student, will represent the school in this years Miss Silliman pageant.

The celebration concluded with the awarding of crowd stunners. The awardees were Ms. Mariel Abaquita, a first year, and Mr. Spencer Dempsey, a second year, for best dressed. Mr. Kenneth James C. Belga was also recognized for being the first to arrive. Meanwhile, Dra. Ma. Milagros D. Uy and Dr.  Rogelio S. McIntire were awarded as best dressed among the faculty and staff.
