Last June 12, 2013, the Bible
Study Group formed by students from SUMS Batch 2017, celebrated their first
anniversary. Such event was held at Shiede Chapel and was named Activate which
was fitting for the start of the school year. About 45 attended the said event;
among them were Dr. Lucille Teves and Dr. Elizabeth Moleta from "Doctors in
Touch". Dr. Teves was the sharer and her talk centered on perspective. She
pointed out the presence of Jesus throughout the bible. She made evident the
presence of God in our lives as medical students; in our patients, teachers and
even in the tiniest organism we study. In everything we do, we should always
keep in mind that all comes from our Savior.
The group also shared how they
conquered second year together. And amidst all the struggles, they found family
in each other. Through weekly bible study sessions, the group was able to thank
God for the blessings they received, air out and unload their difficulties as
well as know Him deeper. Together, amidst adversity, they found a way to
strengthen their relationship with God and each other. Hopefully, the group’s
experiences and sense of family would inspire other medical students to start
their own bible study groups as well.
