Who has the best torch? Definitely, SUMSA! SUMSA indeed lighted up the night of August 19, 2015 with a blast, with their glowing plastic bottles. In their quest to help save Mother Earth, SUMSA definitely proved to the people of Dumaguete City during the yearly torch parade, as they walked the downtown streets, how their creative minds could help lessen plastic wastes by turning them into beautiful nightlights which were strikingly astonishing in the pervading dusk. Delightfully ingenious, the bright torches got a lot of WOWs from the students themselves and the crowd.

Using Mountain Dew plastic bottles and little flashlights focused on the inside, SUMSA made neon green the color of the night.

The much awaited kick-off torch parade that signals the official opening of Silliman University Founder's Week started around 6 PM after the inaugural service at the Silliman University amphitheater. It was well represented by the different school organizations with their various unique designs of torches and nightlights which illuminated not only the busy city streets but most especially the faces of those who witnessed this annual one-of-a-kind event.

Marching as one, the whole Silliman community welcomed everyone to visit Silliman University during the Hibalag which commenced right after the torch parade.
